"I always say that I can relate writing to anything--that's because the imagination, skills, concepts, critical thinking and decision-making involved in the writing process are present in every part of our lives. Live like a writer, be a writer!"
Long time-teaching artist and former adjunct professor to the Undergraduate Writing Program at Warren Wilson College , Janet is co-founder of Asheville Writers in the Schools and Community and True Ink, providing creative opportunities to young writers in the Asheville area. She is also a freelance writer and memoirist, published in Verve, Our State Magazine and Teachers and Writers Magazine.
She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass.
Asheville Writers in the Schools and Community provides creative, innovative writing and arts programs to affirm imagination and community while building critical literacy skills. Children, teens and families who are too often overlooked and unheard are inspired to share their voices and power to create a more just and equitable world.
